Jefferson County Coroner Confirms Measles Death

SUMMERVILLE – The first measles-related death has been reported in Jefferson County.

According to Jefferson County Coroner Greg Furlong, a 40 year-old woman died on Saturday from measles related complications.

With this death the Coroner is warning you about measles and to keep informed about the highly contagious illness.

Measles can cause serious respiratory illness, hospitalization, and in rare cases, death.
