Child Death Case Heads to Trial

CLEARFIELD – The case against a DuBois mother accused of causing the death of her child will now move forward to trial.

We previously reported that Sarah Brubaker was charged with third degree murder and child endangerment after her four year-old child died from neglect.

During a preliminary hearing Friday afternoon, testimony from police and the county coroner focused on the child’s health and living conditions, including a lack of food and heat in the home.

The defense argued that there was not enough evidence to connect Brubaker’s actions to her child’s death and requested the case be dismissed.

District Attorney Ryan Sayers countered saying “We had a parent that intentionally did nothing.”

Judge David Meholick then ruled there was enough evidence for the case to move onto the Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas with bail still held at one million dollars.
