District 9 Baseball and Softball:

The weather improved enough Thursday to get several District 9 baseball and softball games played and in the books.

BASEBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 8, St. Marys 3 – Carter Himes pitched six scoreless innings and struck out 14 for DCC. Both Brayden Zatsick and Evan Burton had two RBI for the Cardinals.

Brockway 11, Johnsonburg 6 – For the Rovers, both Chase Wolfe and Eric Decker smacked three hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Clearfield 7, Tyrone 6

SOFTBALL

Brockway 18, Keystone 7 – Rheanna Spinda went 2-for-2 at the plate, walked twice, scored twice, and drove in four runs for the Lady Rovers.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team has a full slate of upcoming games. Penn State-DuBois will host Point Park Saturday, and they will play a double-header at Penn College on Monday.

Penn State-DuBois softball starts its regular season schedule on Saturday with a double-header on the road, at Kent State-Tuscarawas. The Lady Lions are also set to host Potomac State for a double-header on Sunday afternoon.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped a 5-2 decision to the Baltimore Orioles Thursday at Spring Training in Florida. The Bucs’ season-opener is six days away. On Thursday, the Pirates begin the 2026 regular season against the Mets in New York.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins return home after a five-game road trip. Next for the Pens is a Saturday afternoon game against the Winnipeg Jets. The Penguins pregame show begins at 12 Noon tomorrow on Connect FM. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1pm.
