Little League Baseball All-Stars – Junior East Regional Tournament:
The Junior League Baseball East Region Tournament continues at Stern Family Field in DuBois City Park. On Tuesday, teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maine advanced and will be in action today. The championship game is scheduled for Thursday morning.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates fought back from a big deficit to send last night’s game against Arizona into extra innings. But the Bucs lost to the Diamondbacks, 8-7, in the 12th inning.
Pittsburgh and the D-Backs finish their three-game series this afternoon at PNC Park. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show at 12:10, and listen for the first pitch at 12:35 today on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve got thumped by Chesapeake last night, 12-3. Game two of the Curve and BaySox series at PNG Field in Altoona is scheduled for 12:05 this afternoon.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Training Camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers has started at St. Vincent College in Latrobe. New Steelers Head Coach Mike MaCarthy said yesterday that training camp days are “critical”, because he looks at it as “foundation days.” Practices and activities in Latrobe will continue through August 17th. The first preseason game for the Steelers is set for Thursday, August 13th at Acrisure Stadium against Green Bay. Pittsburgh’s first regular season game will also be at home on Sunday, September 13th against the Atlanta Falcons.
