PUNXSUTAWNEY – Six unoccupied buildings in downtown Punxsutawney are going to be demolished, making room for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania to create a facility dedicated to culinary arts.
The buildings located at 105, 115, 117, 119, 131, and 133 West Mahoning Street are currently fenced off as crews are beginning to remove asbestos, lead paint, and other hazardous materials, preparing the buildings for demolition.
The school currently hopes to have the demolition process done by early Fall. Once completed, the school would like to build a multipurpose facility enhancing the Fairman Centre in Punxsutawney.
