It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Karen DeLoia, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Karen departed this world on May 8, 2026, at her home, cradled in the love of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.
Born on August 25, 1955 in DuBois, PA, Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Harold “Hod” Brubaker and Delores “Dee” Young. She grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, a foundation that shaped her into the tender-spoken and compassionate woman she became. Karen was predeceased by her parents, her step mother Janet, her step sister and her dear brother, Gary Brubaker, whose memories she cherished deeply.
Karen was a 1973 graduate of DuBois Area High School, where she began to form the lifelong friendships that would accompany her throughout her journey. Her path led her to a fulfilling career working alongside her husband, Anthony “Tony” DeLoia, in the restaurant industry—a venture that was as much about community and connection as it was about business. Together, they created warm, welcoming spaces that reflected Karen's own love for people and her inherent hospitality.
Beyond her professional achievements, Karen was a vibrant member of her community. She was a dedicated member of the Treasure Lake Golf Association and the Treasure Lake Women's Golf Association, where she not only excelled in the sport—proudly achieving a hole-in-one at the Treasure Lake Golf Course and also being Club Champion in 2019. She held many positions in the TLWGA throughout the years. Karen formed bonds with fellow golfers who became lifelong friends. She was steadfast in her faith and an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton, Pennsylvania, where her faith and kindness resonated with all who knew her.
Karen's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was an avid bowler and she found immense joy in boating and relaxing on the lake. Her love for music and dogs was well-known, and her creativity shone through in her remarkable decorating skills. Whether playing cards or simply enjoying the company of her extensive circle of friends, Karen was a beacon of warmth and joy.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her devoted husband, Tony; her beloved children, Vinnie DeLoia, Benjamin McAninch, and Stephanie McAninch; her stepsons, Nick DeLoia, Sam DeLoia, and Gian DeLoia with his wife, Kate. She is also survived by her brother, Kevin Brubaker, her step siblings and her cherished grandchildren, Payton, Jack and Annie who brought immense pride and joy to her life.
In remembering Karen, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her gentle spirit and kind heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving an indelible imprint on their lives.
Karen DeLoia will be dearly missed but never forgotten, for her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in peace, embraced by the eternal love of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Dick Hertlein officiating.
Burial will follow in Rockton Cemetery.
