1940-2026
Allen R. “Bud” Hicks, 86, of Smicksburg, passed away on Friday May 8, 2026 at Mulberry Square.
He was born May 7, 1940, to the late, A. Ralph and Mildred (Crawford) Hicks in North Mahoning Township.
He married Brenda (Lewis) Hicks, on October 20, 1961. Together they spent 64 years of marriage together
Allen spent several years serving in the Army National Guard. He worked at Dowell Division of Dow Chemical, Matt Gas and Oil, West Penn Energy and spent 23 years on his family farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with the Groundhog Campers Club, watching sports and racing on TV. Allen was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, his children, Diane Overly, Dayton, Debra Gardner (Gene), Cherry Tree, Donald (Mia), Smicksburg, Daniel, Dayton, grandchildren, Seth Hicks, (Amanda), Juline Overly Fenton (Jeffrey), Marilyn Overly (Clayton Null), Cory Hicks (Kissy Shaffer), Megan Hicks, Garrett Gardner, Jared Overly (Madison), great grandchildren, Bradyn and Kyleigh Lane, Isaac and Elijah Fenton, Tuff, Samson, Axxl, Kinsley, Triston and Kolten Null, Levi and Bentley Hicks, Hudson Overly, and two sisters, Joann Ritter, Erie, and Carol Flowers, St. Mary’s.
He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Allen Hicks, a great grandson Atlas Overly his siblings, Shirely Ewing, Paul Hicks, Owen “Butch” Hicks and Lanny Hicks.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 7:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
Burial will take place at North Point Cemetery.
