Vincent John Sweed, Sr., 83, DuBois, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at his residence. He was born October 24, 1942 in Irvona, PA, a son of the late Frank & Mary (Miller) Sweed. He first married Phyllis Ann (Vandervort) Sweed, who preceded him in death in 1999. He then married Judy Ann (Fletcher) Sweed, who survives in DuBois.
Vincent in survived by his wife Judy, a son Vincent John (Linda) Sweed, Jr. of Punxsutawney, a daughter Tammy (Ricky) Anderson of DuBois, a step-daughter Kelly Pisarchick of Florida, a brother Frank Sweed of LaJose, two sisters Jane Huber and Barb Tressler both of Phillipsburg, two granddaughters Jessica Sweed and Stephanie Horner, three step-grandchildren Reva, Jeffrey and Jimmy and eleven great-grandchildren.
Vincent was stationed in Germany while serving with the US Army. He previously worked at Armagost Steel before retiring from Cooper Tire after 35yrs.
In addition to his parents and first wife Phyllis , Vincent was also preceded in death by two brothers Lewis Sweed and Francis “Bud” Mooney, a sister Sue Hynd and a step-son Richard Mix, Jr.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois from 1pm until 3pm. A Memorial service will be held at 3pm at the funeral home with Military services to follow. Military Honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
