PUNXSUTAWNEY – A local mother of three is being recognized for her efforts to fill a role the community needs.
Kayla Blystone of Punxsutawney is a nursing student at BC3 in Brockway and has been named a statewide scholar by international honor society Phi Theta Kappa.
The 36 year-old is currently in training to become a registered nurse, as part of an effort to fill ongoing healthcare shortages in rural Pennsylvania.
She is expected to graduate in 2027.
