UNDATED – A measles related death has been reported in our area, and as the infection continues to spread, area health officials are reminding you to make sure you’re protected.
Chief Medical Officer for Penn Highlands Healthcare, Dr. Trina Johnson, says that Measles is highly contagious and the first step you should take is getting vaccinated.
“The vaccination is safe. It’s highly effective, much more so than many of the other vaccinations that we have out there. And that’s the best thing that you can do to protect yourself and your family,” explained Dr. Johnson.
She also says that most residents of Clearfield, Elk, and Jefferson Counties are either vaccinated or already immune, but you should still be on the lookout for symptoms like a fever and rash.
