UNDATED – A national group is seeking to make a constitutional amendment that could reduce the influence of outside money in elections.
American Promise Coalition Coordinator John Stroup says this proposal would allow states to set up campaign finance rules. He went on to say that these rules could have an impact on both local and national races.
“Whether you’re for it or against it, the vote should come from the people, and that’s civic engagement,” explained Stroup.
To pass the amendment, it would need approval from two thirds of Congress and ratification by 38 states before becoming part of the U.S. Constitution.
