Former State Prison Employee Sentenced for Smuggling

HOUTZDALE – A former employee of a Houtzdale State Prison has been sentenced after pleading guilty to smuggling opioids into the facility.

We previously reported that 28 year-old Jared Bakaysa was caught smuggling Suboxone strips into the prison by K9 units. 

When questioned, he allegedly admitted to bringing drugs into the facility in exchange for money from an inmate.

Now after pleading guilty to felony criminal use of a communication facility and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance he was sentenced to two years of probation.
