DUBOIS – A DuBois Area High School senior is being recognized for turning leadership and community service into a future career in education.

Adalyn Witherite received the 2026 Frerichs Scholarship from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association Trust.

CEO Nathan Mains says the $2,500 award goes to students pursuing education related degrees who show leadership in school and their community.

“Leadership is a defining feature of her high school experience,” Mains said. “These roles reflect not only her ability to lead, but her commitment to inclusion, service, and teamwork.”

He went on to say that Witherite served as president of the Beaver Buddy and Interact clubs, participated in athletics and music programs, and is involved with the National Honor society.

Witherite plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study speech language pathology and hopes to become a speech teacher.
