The Pittsburgh Pirates lost 4-2 to the Brewers in Milwaukee last night.

Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve managed a 2-0 shutout of Erie last night. Three Altoona pitchers held the Sea Wolves to just four hits in the game. The Curve continue their six-game Eastern League series at UPMC Park in Erie with a day game today. The first pitch of the Curve-Sea Wolves game this afternoon is scheduled for 12:35.
District 9 High School Football:
Coming up next week, heat acclimation practices will get started for District 9 high school football teams. The opening weekend of regular season games begins Friday, August 28th when Brockway plays at Keystone; Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will be hosting Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. On Saturday, the 29th, the DuBois Beavers open their football season at Erie.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be practicing today at their Training Camp in Latrobe at St. Vincent College, but today’s workout is closed to the public. In just eight days, Pittsburgh plays its first preseason game. The Steelers host the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, the 13th.
