Inmate Accused of Choking Man

JEFFERSON COUNTY – An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail has been charged after allegedly choking a man. 

On May 11th State Police received a call from the Jefferson County Jail claiming that two inmates got into a fight with one being transported to the hospital for evaluation.

When speaking to an employee they claimed that 51 year-old David Vanatta Jr was holding down another inmate in a choke hold before throwing them into a wall.

When attempting to detain Vanatta after the incident, he allegedly bit an officer.

Now he has been charged with felony aggravated harassment by prisoner, strangulation, and simple assault.
