UNDATED – As you prepare for Halloween, safety officials are reminding you to take a few extra precautions to keep yourself and your little ones safe while trick-or-treating.

Drivers should slow down, stay alert, and watch for children crossing the road.

If you’re taking your kids trick-or-treating, make sure their costumes are visible in the dark, either by using reflective tape or carrying flashlights. You should also check your children’s candy before they eat it.

Officials say that taking these extra steps can help everyone have a safe and happy Halloween.
