DUBOIS – As e-bikes become more common, local safety officials are urging you to know the rules and be safe before you ride
Police say they’ve received complaints about riders using sidewalks, failing to watch for vehicles, ignoring traffic laws, and traveling at high rates of speed.
Both the police, Highway Safety Network, and PennDOT officials remind you to obey traffic laws and practice safe riding habits.
“They are seeing just a significant number of injuries, head trauma, people coming in off of these e-bikes,” explained Steve Harmic.
Steve Harmic with PennDOT also recommends you to wear a helmet designed specifically for e-bikes, which are built to handle higher speed impacts.
