CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man’s trial involving more than 2,800 charges of child sex abuse came to an abrupt end.
According to court documents, President Judge Paul Cherry declared a mistrial Monday in the case against 39-year old Devin Moore of Grampian. The mistrial was declared when a State Police Trooper inadvertently mentioned that Moore was involved in a separate simple assault case. Despite the mistrial, Moore is still being held in the Clearfield County Jail with his bail revoked.
District Attorney Ryan Sayers noted that he is still committed to prosecuting the sex abuse case against Moore, and a new trial date will be set with jury selection in October.
Moore has been accused of sexually assaulting a young girl from the time she was 8-years-old until she was 15.
Court documents also indicate that child pornography possession charges are pending against Moore.
