The Pittsburgh Pirates notched a 1-0, late-inning win over the San Diego Padres last night.

Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve defeated the Erie Sea Wolves, 7-6, at PNG Field last night. Game two of the Curve-Erie series is set to start at 6 this evening.
District 9 High School Football:
In just two days, District 9 high school football begins. Friday night, the Brockway Rovers open their season at Keystone. Rovers football will come your way live on Sunny 106 and Tri-County – dot – TV with kickoff time at 7pm. Other D9 Tri-County area games Friday night include Brookville playing at Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney hosting Bradford; Clearfield will play at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. Saturday evening, the DuBois Beavers open their season at Erie.
College Football:
Coming up next week is the start of the 2026 college football season. On Thursday, September 3rd, the regular season schedule begins for Western PA teams as Clarion hosts West Virginia Wesleyan, and IUP plays at Ashland. Then on Saturday, September 5th, the 18th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions will host Marshall in Happy Valley; and Miami of Ohio will play the Pitt Panthers in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be wrapping up their preseason schedule tomorrow night at Buffalo. Kickoff time is 7pm. Pittsburgh’s regular season schedule begins on Sunday, September 13th when the Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons.
