Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates got swept by the LA Dodgers over the weekend. Sunday, the Bucs fell to the Dodgers, 4-0.
The Bucs face the Padres in San Diego tonight. The Pirates pregame show starts at 9:15, and the first pitch of the contest is scheduled for 9:40pm. Pittsburgh Pirates baseball comes your way on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve struggled in Binghamton over the weekend. The Curve lost to the Rumble Ponies on Sunday by a 7-3 score. After an off day today, Altoona begins a six-game series at home against Erie. Game one Tuesday night has a start time set for 6pm.
District 9 High School Football:
Friday night, the District 9 high school football regular season begins. The Brockway Rovers will open their season at Keystone. Rovers football will come your way live on Sunny 106 and Tri-County – dot – TV with kickoff time Friday at 7pm. In other week one games, Brookville plays at Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. Then on Saturday, the 29th, the DuBois Beavers open their season at Erie.
College Football:
The start of the 2026 college football season is a week and a half away. On Thursday, September 3rd, the regular season schedule begins for Western PA college teams as Clarion hosts West Virginia Wesleyan, and IUP plays at Ashland. Then on Saturday, September 5th, the Penn State Nittany Lions, ranked 18th in the nation, will host Marshall; and Miami of Ohio will play the Pitt Panthers in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Last Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers were shut out by the visiting New York Jets, 17-0, in preseason game number two. The Steelers will close out their preseason game schedule at Buffalo on Thursday. Kickoff time is 7pm. The regular season schedule begins on September 13th when Pittsburgh hosts the Atlanta Falcons.
