Pittsburgh Pirates:

Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates lost again to the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-2.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve belted three home runs last night and outscored the Erie Sea Wolves by a score of 10-6. Altoona faces Erie in game four of the six-game Eastern League series this evening at 6:05.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced a preseason contract signing yesterday. The Pens secured restricted free agent forward Ville Koivunen to an eight-year contract through the 2033-34 season. The deal carries an average annual value of $4-million. The 23-year old Koivunen split time last season between Pittsburgh and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

College Football:

The start of the 2026 college football season is four weeks away. The opening night of regular season games will be Thursday, September 3rd when Clarion hosts West Virginia Wesleyan and IUP plays at Ashland. On Saturday, September 5th, the Penn State Nittany Lions will host Marshall, and Miami of Ohio will play the Pitt Panthers at Acrusire Stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp continues at St. Vincent College in Latrobe. Next Thursday, Pittsburgh plays its first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers at Acrisrue Stadium in Pittsburgh.
