UNDATED – PennDOT and State Police are stepping up speed enforcement in highway work zones through Operation Yellow Jacket.

During the enforcement period, Troopers will ride in PennDOT vehicles to spot drivers speeding, tailgating, or driving distracted. They will then alert marked patrol vehicles to make traffic stops.

You are reminded to slow down, use headlights, and follow posted speed limits and traffic patterns, especially in work zones.

Officials say last year 1,393 crashes were in work zones, leading to 12 deaths and 805 injuries.
