Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates were powered by a pair of home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning yesterday, and they downed the Detroit Tigers at PNC Park, 4-3.
The Bucs are off today, but are heading to California. The Pirates will next play the Dodgers in LA. Friday night’s pregame show starts at 9:45, and the first pitch of the Bucs-Dodgers matchup is scheduled for 10:10pm. Pittsburgh Pirates baseball comes your way on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve lost to Binghamton last night, 10-6. The Curve has now come up short in eight of their last 10 games. Altoona’s series in New York continues this evening against the Rumble Ponies. Game time is set for 6:07pm.
College Football:
The start of the 2026 college football season is two weeks from today. On Thursday, September 3rd, the regular season schedule begins for Western PA college teams as Clarion will host West Virginia Wesleyan, and IUP plays at Ashland. Then on Saturday, September 5th, the Penn State Nittany Lions, ranked 18th in the nation, will host Marshall, and Miami of Ohio will play the Pitt Panthers in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Tomorrow night, the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Jets for their second preseason game. Kickoff time at Acrisure Stadium is 7pm. Pittsburgh will close out their preseason game schedule at Buffalo next Thursday.
