The Pittsburgh Pirates knocked off the Detroit Tigers at PNC Park Tuesday night, 4-1.

Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve fell 4-3 to Binghamton last night. The Curve’s Eastern League series continues in New York this evening. Altoona battles the Rumble Ponies at 6:07pm.
District 9 High School Football:
Only nine more days to go until District 9 high school football’s regular season begins. On Friday, August 28th, the Brockway Rovers will open the season at Keystone. Rovers football will come your way live on Sunny 106 and Tri-County – dot – TV with kickoff time at 7pm. In other week one games, Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. Then on Saturday, the 29th, the DuBois Beavers open their season at Erie.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers have moved their preseason practices from Latrobe into the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. Coming up on Friday night, Pittsburgh will host the New York Jets for preseason game number two. Friday’s kickoff time at Acrisure Stadium is 7pm. The third and final preseason game for the Steelers will be at Buffalo on Thursday, August 27th.
