Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates won two of three games against the Boston Red Sox at PNC Park over the weekend. Sunday, the Pirates prevailed 8-3.
Tonight, the Bucs open a three-game home series with the Detroit Tigers. The pregame show starts at 6:40, and the first pitch this evening will be at 7:05. As always, Pirates baseball will come your way live on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve snapped a four-game losing skid on Saturday with a 12-3 win over Akron, but Sunday’s scheduled series finale’ was rained out. The Curve and Rubber Ducks will make up Sunday’s game on September 10th. After an off day today, Altoona travels to New York to face Binghamton for six games. The series starts Tuesday evening at 6:07.
District 9 High School Football:
Practices will continue this week for the District 9 high school football teams throughout the Tri-County area. Regular season games begin on Friday, August 28th. Brockway will open the season at Keystone. That game will come your way live on Sunny 106 and Tri-County – dot – TV. In other week one games, Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. Then on Saturday, the 29th, the DuBois Beavers open their season at Erie.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be closing out their Training Camp sessions in Latrobe this week. In their first preseason game last Thursday, the Steelers beat the Green Bay Packers, 28-9. This Friday night, Pittsburgh will host the New York Jets for week two of the preseason schedule. The final preseason game for the Steelers will be at Buffalo on Thursday, August 27th.
