Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates lost 8-2 last night to the Miami Marlins. The Bucs’ losing slump has extended to 11 of their last 14 games, and their overall record has dipped to six games below .500 for the season.

Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve got nipped by Akron last night, 4-3. The third game of the Curve and Rubber Ducks series at PNG Field in Altoona will start at 6 tonight.
College Football:
The start of the 2026 college football season is three weeks from today. On Thursday, September 3rd, the regular season schedule begins for Western PA college teams as Clarion will host West Virginia Wesleyan, and IUP plays at Ashland. Then on Saturday, September 5th, the Penn State Nittany Lions will host Marshall, and Miami of Ohio will play the Pitt Panthers in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready to wrap up their Training Camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe next week. As part of that process, tonight Pittsburgh plays its first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff time in Pittsburgh is 7pm. The Steelers will stay home through next week as week two of the preseason schedule will bring the New York Jets to Pittsburgh on Friday, August 21st.
