Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve begin a six-game home series with Akron this evening. Altoona and the Rubber Ducks square off at PNG Field at 6 tonight.
District 9 High School Football:
Practices are underway this week for District 9 high school football teams throughout the Tri-County area. The regular season game schedule starts on Friday, August 28th. Brockway will play at Keystone that evening; Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. Then on Saturday, the 29th, the DuBois Beavers open their season at Erie.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Stormy weather forced practices indoors Monday for the Pittsburgh Steelers at their Training Camp in Latrobe. In just two days, Pittsburgh will play its first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. Thursday’s kickoff time at Acrisrue Stadium in Pittsburgh is 7pm.
