Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ struggles are continuing…especially against left-handed starting pitchers. Pittsburgh got pounded at home by the New York Mets Sunday, 11-1. The Bucs have now lost nine of their last dozen games.

Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve used four pitchers to craft a one-hitter while beating the Erie Sea Wolves Sunday, 4-1. Altoona went three-and-three in that Eastern League series in Erie. Next for the Curve is a six-game home series with Akron. Tuesday night, Altoona will face the Rubber Ducks at PNG Field starting at 6pm.
District 9 High School Football:
Heat acclimation practices begin this week for District 9 high school football teams throughout the Tri-County area. Week one of the regular season game schedule will be Friday, August 28th. Brockway will play at Keystone; Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. On Saturday, the 29th, DuBois opens its season at Erie.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe featured a practice under the lights on Saturday. Nearly 8,500 fans showed up for the popular camp event. This week, on Thursday, Pittsburgh will play its first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. Kickoff time at Acrisrue Stadium in Pittsburgh is 7pm.
