JOHNSTOWN – Former City of DuBois employee Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Shaffer, who was accused of stealing nearly $1.5 million in city funds, has pleaded guilty.
During a change of plea hearing Wednesday morning, Shaffer accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to counts 5 and 8 of the indictment, which include the theft or fraudulent misuse of more than $5,000 dollars in City of DuBois funds in 2021, and a fraudulent financial transactio of $28,000 dollars.
As part of the plea agreement, Shaffer must pay restitution and acknowledge responsibility for the theft.
Each count has a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 dollars, three years of supervised release, and mandatory restitution.
A sentencing hearing will be held on September 22nd at 1:30pm in Johnstown.
Shaffer originally pleaded not guilty for allegedly stealing around $1.5 million dollars in city funds between 2008 and 2022.
