ROSE TOWNSHIP – A Kane man is facing several charges after allegedly posing as the owner of a construction company and stealing a deposit.
According to police, in early October of 2025, a victim paid a $4,000 dollar deposit to 24 year-old Bryent Johnson who claimed to own a paving and concrete business.
Johnson then allegedly only completed a small portion of the project.
During an investigation, police learned he was just an employee and was doing the project independently.
Johnson has now been charged with felony theft by deceptive business practices.
