College Wrestling:
The Penn State wrestling team made history and set an NCAA Division I record by stretching its dual winning streak to 77. Penn State recorded a pair of wins at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals over the weekend. The Nittany Lions shut out North Dakota State, 46-0, to tie the record; and then shut out Stanford, 42-0, to break the 70-year old record previously held by Oklahoma State.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Penguins snapped their eight-game win-less skid with a 4-3 shootout win over Montreal. The game featured another career moment for Sidney Crosby. The Penguins’ captain became the franchise’s all-time points leader with 1,724. That eclipses the mark held by Mario Lemieux. Crosby has also registered the eighth-most points in NHL history
The Penguins will face the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Tuesday. The puck drop is scheduled for 4pm. The Pens-Leafs pregame show begins at 3 tomorrow afternoon on Connect FM.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers took down the Lions in Detroit Sunday, 29-24. Jaylen Warren carried the ball 14 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns to lead Pittsburgh. The Steelers improve to a 9-and-6 record and remain alone in first place atop the AFC North Division heading into their final two regular season games.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a big off-season trade last Friday. The Bucs obtained power hitting All Star Brandon Lowe from the Tampa Rays. Pittsburgh sent Mike Burrows to Houston and received Lowe, Jake Mangum, and Mason Montgomery from Tampa in the three-team exchange. Last season, Rowe hit 31 home runs.
