PIAA Class 5A Baseball Championship:
What an amazing championship game, concluding an incredible season for the DuBois High School baseball team! On Friday, in the PIAA Class 5A championship game, the DuBois Beavers lost to Greencastle-Antrim, 6-5, in the 14th inning. It was the longest state championship baseball game on record in Pennsylvania history. The Beavers had chances to win, grabbing a 3-1 advantage in the third inning, a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh frame, and then going up 5-4 in the top of the 14th. But Greencastle-Antrim prevailed with a two-out, bases loaded single in their half of the 14th.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost seven of their last nine games after falling to the Miami Marlins Sunday, 4-2.
Tonight, the Bucs start a three-game series in Oakland. Don’t miss the Pirates pregame show at 9:15 on Connect FM. The first pitch of the Bucs-A’s game tonight is scheduled for 9:40.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve won four of six games against the Chesapeake Bay Sox, including three-straight over the weekend. On Sunday, the Curve knocked off Chesapeake, 7-1. Altoona’s next Eastern League series will begin in Akron Tuesday night .
