DUBOIS – Local leaders have approved plans to expand and create better fire service for the new City of DuBois.

Lawmakers approved using the remaining estimated $900,000 RACP grant dollars to be moved into a dedicated project fund to rebuild the Oklahoma station and construct a new North Point fire hall, a crucial first step in enhancing fire services in the area.

“It’s just going to help and set our Fire Department ahead years by getting these two buildings,“ explained Fire Chief Jason Runyon. “And then we’ll start to look at securing funding for the next building, which hopefully will be over on the West Sandy side where we can bring five fire companies into that one building.”

The grant is a 50/50 match that is already built into the 2026 budget. Possible construction is expected in 2026-2027.
