District 9 / PIAA Football Playoffs
Class 3A: Tomorrow night, the District 9 champion Brockway Rovers will host Penn Cambria, the District 6 champs, at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway. Tune in for the game’s live action on Sunny 106, or watch at Tri-County – dot – TV. The pregame show begins at 6:30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
Class 4A: The Punxsutawney Chucks get their shot in the PIAA football playoffs for the first time in 16 years. Friday night, the Chucks take on Oil City, the District 10 champs, at Oil City.
Class 2A: District 9, Class 2A champion Karns City is hosting the champs of District 10, Farrell, on Friday night.
Class 1A: A District 9, Class 1A champion will be crowned Friday night in Kane. Top-seeded Port Allegany will battle Redbank Valley for the title.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes was unanimously chosen as the best pitcher in the National League in 2025, and was bestowed with the Cy Young Award last night. Skenes received all 30 first place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Skenes is only the third Pirate pitcher ever to receive the honors. Vern Law won the Cy Young in 1960, and Doug Drabek was the 1990 winner.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are in Sweden as part of the NHL’s Global Series. The Pens will play the Nashville Predators tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning.
The Penguins face off against Nashville at 2pm tomorrow. Tune in for the Pens-Preds pregame show at 1 on Connect FM.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the AFC North Division with an overall record of 5-and-4. This Sunday, Pittsburgh will host the 3-and-6 Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff time at Acrisure Stadium is set for 1pm.
