District 9 / PIAA Football Playoffs
Class 3A: The District 9 champion Brockway Rovers will host Penn Cambria, the District 6 champs, Friday night at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway. You can listen to the game live on Sunny 106, or watch at Tri-County – dot – TV. The pregame show begins at 6:30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
Class 4A: The Punxsutawney Chucks participate in the PIAA football playoffs Friday night for the first time in 16 years. The Chucks take on Oil City, the District 10 champs, at Oil City.
Class 2A: District 9, Class 2A champion Karns City is hosting the champs of District 10, Farrell, on Friday night.
Class 1A: District 9 will settle the single A championship Friday night in Kane. Top-seeded Port Allegany will battle Redbank Valley for the honors.
PIAA Class 3A Girls Soccer Playoffs:
The DuBois Lady Beavers made it all the way to the Semifinal round of the state playoffs. But the Lady Beavers’ run came to an end Tuesday, losing to South Fayette, 6-1. DuBois posted an impressive record of 19-3-and-1 this season, and became only the fifth District 9 team ever to make it within one game of the state soccer championship.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are in Sweden for a pair of games against the Nashville Predators in the NHL’s Global Series.
Friday, the Penguins face off against Nashville on Swedish ice. Tune in for the Pens-Preds pregame show on Connect FM at 1pm on Friday. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 2pm.

Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a lead in the AFC North Division with their overall record of 5-and-4. This Sunday, Pittsburgh will host the 3-and-6 Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff time at Acrisure Stadium is set for 1pm.
