DUBOIS – Lawmakers are reviewing the initial 2026 budget for the new City of DuBois
The general fund, as is, sits at a $950,991 dollar deficit despite anticipated revenues of over $10 million dollars. To avoid continued reliance on utility fund transfers, officials are considering multiple approaches from tax increases to budget cuts.
Proposed utility rates include $16 dollars per 1,000 gallons for water and $22 dollars per 1,000 gallons for sewer. DuBois is currently at $10 dollars for water and $19 dollars for sewer, Sandy Township is at $16 dollars for water and $18.50 dollars for sewer.
“We still have a lot of questions that need to be answered to get to the actual bottom line of each fund,“ explained Manager Lisa Hagberg. “But we wanted the board to know what we’re working with and how we are going about getting to these numbers.”
A full draft is expected at the November 19th Joint Board meeting, in the meantime lawmakers must make the decision on what steps should be taken to balance the budget.
