Pennsylvania Budget in Deadlock

UNDATED – Passing the House in late July, the Pennsylvania State Budget has stood at a standstill with no end in sight.

State Representative Mike Armanini has told us that this budget sees billions of dollars in extra expenditures with hopes of remediating it through taxation of skill games and legalization and taxation of marijuana.

“The budget that the Governor and the House Democrats are bringing is about five billion dollars over what Pennsylvania is generating in revenue,“ explained Arnanini. “Within the next two years we are not going to be bringing in enough revenue to cover everything through the state.”

With no budget in place, school districts and lawmakers will soon have to deploy stopgap measures to circumvent expenses normally reimbursed by the state as this period of uncertainty continues.
