Armanini Backs Bipartisan State Budget

UNDATED – Pennsylvania lawmakers have approved a new $50.8 billion dollar state budget, nearly two weeks after the deadline.

State Representative Mike Armanini says that this spending plan avoids broad-based tax increases, preserves the rainy day fund, and invests more in schools, rural health care, and road/bridge projects.

“We know we cannot really have a budget that exceeds what we’re bringing revenue in,” explained Armanini

While this is a 3.7 percent increase from last year’s budget, Armanini says that he is pleased lawmakers reduced the original $53.3 billion dollar spending plan proposed. He is still concerned about some of the accounting measures used to balance the budget.

The budget is now heading to the governor’s desk for his consideration.
