District 9 High School Football:
Next week, the 2025 District 9 High School Football season schedule begins. Many teams will have scrimmage games this Saturday, but the first regular season games will be played on Friday, August 22nd and Saturday, August 23rd. Week one match-ups include Brookville hosting Keystone, Clearfield will play host to Bellwood-Antis, Curwensville travels to Meyersdale, Karns City will be at St. Marys, and Ridgway goes to Redbank Valley. There will be two season-opening games on Saturday, the 23rd: Brockway visits Punxsutawney, and General McLane will take on the DuBois Beavers at Mansell Stadium.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept in Milwaukee by the red-hot Brewers. Wednesday afternoon, Milwaukee smacked the Bucs, 12-5.
The Bucs are off today. They will face the Cubs in Chicago Friday afternoon. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show at 1:55 tomorrow afternoon on Connect FM. The first pitch of the Bucs-Cubbies game is scheduled for 2:20.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve couldn’t hold on to a four run lead last night, and they fell, 10-6, to Richmond in game two of a six-game series in Virginia. The Curve and Flying Squirrels are scheduled to play the third game of the series tonight at 6:35.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their second preseason game. Saturday evening, Pittsburgh will host the Tampa Bay Bucaneers at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
