District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Baseball Playoffs –

Tuesday – DuBois 16, Meadville 0 – Class 5A, Districts 9, 8, and 10 subregional championship – Trey Wingard and Noah Farrell each contributed three hits, and Mason Dinkfelt and Adam Drushak each hit a home run as part of the Beavers’ 18-hit attack. DuBois will play Bethel Park of the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.

PIAA baseball playoffs begin Monday, June 2nd. DuBois, DuBois Central Catholic, Clarion, Redbank Valley, and Punxsutawney will be the District 9 baseball teams involved.

Softball Playoffs –

Tuesday – Central Mountain 3, DuBois 1– Class 5A, Districts 9 and 6 subregional championship – The lone run for the Lady Beavers was a solo home run hit by Ava Baronick in the first inning.

PIAA softball playoffs also begin on Monday, June 2nd. DuBois Central Catholic, Cranberry, St. Marys, and Punxsutawney will be the District 9 teams participating.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates came from behind and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, 9-6. The Bucs have now won five of their last eight games.

The Pirates play the D-Backs again this afternoon. The first pitch of the Bucs-Arizona game is set for 3:40. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM today at 3:15.

Altoona Curve:

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve doubled up on the Portland Sea Dogs last night, 4-2. Altoona and Portland play game two of their Eastern League series tonight at PNG Field at 6pm.
