District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Baseball Playoffs –

Today, the DuBois Beavers go up against Allderdice in the Class 5A, Districts 9, 8 and 10 subregional playoffs.

Also today, St. Marys will play Karns City for the D9, Class 3A championship; and Punxsutawney and Clearfield will battle for the Class 4A, District 9 championship..

Thursday, DuBois Central Catholic will take on Port Allegany in the Class A playoffs.

Softball Playoffs –

Tuesday – Class 2A — Brookville 2, Central Clarion 1 – It was Brookville’s first softball playoff win since 2006. The Lady Raiders are scheduled to take on Cranberry Thursday afternoon.

Today in Class A, DuBois Central Catholic will face Otto-Eldred , and Curwensville is scheduled to take on Northern Potter.

Monday – Class 4A – Punxsutawney and Clearfield will play for the D9 title.

Tuesday – Class 5A – DuBois will play either Hollidaysburg or Central Mountain.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

One run and strong pitching was all that was needed as the Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Cincinnati Reds last night, 1-0.

This afternoon, the Pirates and Reds wrap up their series in Pittsburgh with a 12:35 first pitch. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM at 12:10.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve lost in Akron yesterday, 3-1. Game two of Altoona’s six-game set in Akron will be tonight. The first pitch of the Curve – Rubber Ducks contest is set for 6:35pm.
