District 9 Baseball and Softball:
Baseball Playoffs –
Monday – Class 3A – St. Marys.2, Brookville 1 – Ben Reynolds and Mason Nicklas each had two hits for the Dutch. St. Marys will play Karns City for the district championship on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, the DuBois Beavers will go up against Allderdice in the Class 5A, Districts 9, 8 and 10 Subregional playoffs; and Punxsutawney and Clearfield will battle for the Class 4A, District 9 championship.
Softball Playoffs –
Monday – Class 5A, Districts 9 and 8 Subregional playoff – DuBois 15, Brashear 0 – Brielle Gray went 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run, three runs scored, and four RBI for the Lady Beavers. DuBois will play either Hollidaysburg or Central Mountain next Tuesday.
Monday – Class 4A, Districts 9 and 5 Subregional playoffs, Punxsutawney 15, Bradford 0 / Clearfield 5, Somerset 4 – Joell Henry, Raigan Uncles, and Haley Billotte each smacked two hits for Clearfield. Punxsy and Clearfield will play for the district title on Monday.
Today, Brookville’s Lady Raiders have a Class 2A, District 9 softball playoff contest against Central Clarion.
Wednesday in Class A, DuBois Central Catholic will face Otto-Eldred , and Curwensville is taking on Northern Potter.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cincinnati Reds last night, 7-1. That’s four straight losses for the Bucs, and they have dropped six of their last seven games.
Tonight, the Pirates-Reds game in Pittsburgh is scheduled for 6:40. Listen for the pregame show on Connect FM at 6:15.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve will start a six-game series in Akron today. The first pitch of the Curve – Rubber Ducks contest is set for 11:05 this morning.
