District 9 Baseball and Softball:

WEDNESDAY BASEBALL SCOREBOARD

Kane 6, Brockway 2

Punxsutawney 13, Brookville 1

Clearfield 10, Bradford 3 – Kam Kushner drove in three runs for Clearfield.

Elk County Tournament: St. Marys 14, Johnsonburg 0; Elk County Catholic 7, Port Allegany 1 – Johnsonburg and Port Allegany will play in today’s consolation game, and St. Marys will face Elk County Catholic for the tournament championship.

 

WEDNESDAY SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

Brockway 15, Kane 0 – Meeca Smith, Josie Orinko, and Isabella Patton each drove in two runs for the Lady Rovers.

Brookville 16, Forest Area 2 – Riley Eble and Julie Greeley each knocked in three runs for the Lady Raiders.

Clearfield 13, Bradford 6

Curwensville 13, Mount Union 3

Elk County Tournament: Redbank Valley 17, Elk County Catholic 0; St. Marys 13, Redbank Valley 1 – Molly Hanslovan hit a home run and drove in five Lady Dutch runs as St. Marys claimed the tournament championship.

 

Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:

Penn State DuBois is heading into Friday’s PSUAC Baseball Championship Series Friday afternoon with an overall record of 28-7. Penn State DuBois is hosting the series at Showers Field.

Penn State DuBois is also hosting the PSUAC Softball Championship Series at Heindl Field on Friday. The overall record for Penn State DuBois heading into the series is 16-13.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Cutch” came through in the clutch for the Pirates last night. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double in the seventh, and the Bucs beat the Chicago Cubs, 4-3, at PNC Park. The Bucs host the Cubs for a day game this afternoon. Listen for the pregame show at 12:10. The first pitch of the Pirates-Cubbies game is set for 12:35 this afternoon on Connect FM.

 

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve were shut out by Akron Wednesday evening, 6-0. Game three the Curve-Rubber Ducks series in Altoona begins at 11 this morning.
