Class 5A – Thursday – DuBois 57, Punxsutawney 42 – Next for DuBois is a District 9 and 10 subregional contest against Meadville on Tuesday
Class 4A – Thursday – St. Marys 32, Bradford 26 – St. Marys will play Clearfield for the District 9 Class 4A championship on Tuesday
GIRLS
Class 4A – Thursday – St. Marys 37, Bradford 27 – St. Marys and Clearfield will play for the District 9 4A title on Tuesday
Class A – Friday – DuBois Central Catholic 52, Cameron County 23 – Ella Elensky scored 19 points to lead the Lady Cardinals … DCC will play Coudersport in the semifinal round on Wednesday
Class A – Friday – Clarion-Limestone 43, Elk County Catholic 37
Class 3A – Friday – Cranberry 43, Brookville 32
District 9 Wrestling:
DuBois claimed the team title of the District 9 and 10 Class 3A wrestling tournament Saturday. Five Beavers claimed championships for their weight class and there were two DuBois wrestlers who earned a second place finish. In the Class 2A wrestling tourney for District 9, Clearfield won the top spot with two champions, three second place winners, and three third place winners.
Penn State DuBois Basketball:
Both Penn State DuBois basketball teams grabbed wins in their regular season finales last Friday over Penn State New Kensington. The women’s game went to Penn State DuBois by a score of 78-55, and the Penn State DuBois men nipped Penn State New Kensington, 94-93. Both Penn State DuBois teams will play in the PSUAC semifinals tonight.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates had a pair of weekend spring training games in Florida. Saturday, the Bucs beat Baltimore 10-5. Sunday, the Pirates were 5-1 winners over Minnesota. Today, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are scheduled to play in Clearwater.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost two in-a-row after returning to action following the 4 Nations Tournaments. It was an 8-3 loss to Washington on Saturday, and the Pens fell to the Rangers 5-3 on Sunday.
The Pens will take on Philadelphia Tuesday night at 7.
