District 9 Basketball:

GIRLS (Thursday)

DuBois Central Catholic 61, Kane 44 – Hope Jacobs was the leading scorer for the Lady Cardinals with 16 points

Moshannon Valley 45, Curwensville 33

St. Marys 45, Johnsonburg 27 – Lady Dutch scoring was lead by Braelyn Beck with 13 points

District 9 Wrestling:

Brockway 46, Redbank Valley 22

Altoona 31, Clearfield 29

DuBois High School Rifle Team:

The DuBois High School rifle team defeated Portage Thursday night by a score of 1266 to 1261. The top three shooters for DuBois were Brady Kiskaddon – 271; Jackson Shaffer – 259; and Anthony Sago – 247.

Penn State DuBois Basketball:

The Penn State DuBois men’s and women’s basketball teams are returning to action after their holiday break. Last night, Penn State DuBois men won at Butler County Community College, 104-76. Both Penn State DuBois teams will host Berkeley on Monday evening.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

For the first time in six years the Pittsburgh Penguins have beaten Edmonton. It was a 5-3 win for the Pens over the Oilers last night.

Next for the Penguins is a Saturday afternoon game at home against Ottawa. The Pens-Senators pregame show starts at 3:30. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 4pm Saturday … on Connect FM and Sunny 106.

College Football:

A final seconds field goal by Notre Dame knocked Penn State out of the college football playoffs last night. The Irish prevailed 27-24 over the Nittany Lions at the Orange Bowl in Miami. Notre Dame will face the winner of tonight’s Texas-Ohio State game for college football’s national championship. Penn State’s season ends with a 13-3 record.

 

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the AFC playoffs tomorrow having lost four straight games. Saturday evening the Steelers will face the Ravens in Baltimore in the wildcard game of the AFC playoffs.
