District 9 Basketball (Monday):

BOYS

DuBois 56, Johnsonburg 43 – Maddox Bennett netted 19 points to lead the Beavers

GIRLS

DuBois Central Catholic 49, DuBois 18Julia Sebring and Hope Jacob each scored 12 points for the Lady Cardinals

College Basketball:

The Penn State DuBois men’s basketball team will be hosting Bryant and Stratton this evening.

Penn State DuBois women will next be in action at Penn State Mont Alto Friday evening at 6.

 

PIAA Football Playoffs

Following a pair of convincing wins last Friday night, the two District 9 football teams still alive in the PIAA playoffs advance into state championship games this week:

CLASS 1A

D9 champ Port Allegany beat WPIAL champ Fort Cherry, 46-8. Thursday afternoon at 1, the 14-0 Gators will take on Bishop Guilfoyle at Cumberland Valley in Mechanicsburg.

CLASS 2A

D9 Champ Central Clarion was a 55-0 winner over WPIAL champs, South Park. Central Clarion is now 14-0, and will be facing Troy in the state title game Friday afternoon at 1 in Mechanicsburg.

College Football:

Penn State 44, Maryland 7 … the 11-1 Nittany Lions will play Oregon for the Big 10 championship, Saturday in Indianapolis.

 

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Following a 44-38 win over Cincinnati on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now 9-and-3. The Steelers host Cleveland this Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1pm.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins are on a three-game win streak as they get ready to host the Florida Panthers tonight.

Tune in for the opening faceoff at 7pm, and you can catch the Pens-Panthers pregame show at 6:30 this evening … on Connect FM and Sunny 106.
