CLEARFIELD – Now that more than $47-million has been approved to help improve Clearfield County’s broadband and high-speed internet access, a county commissioner wants to make sure smaller municipalities have an advocate.
At this week’s board meeting, Clearfield County Commissioner Dave Glass said more information will soon be available on the broadband infrastructure grant application process. Glass said the county is willing to be the advocate for smaller municipalities, and “be that front-line point of contact with internet service providers.”
The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority recently approved more than $21-million in grants for Clearfield County, and Verizon has committed another $25-million towards four fiber-optic projects.
Work is expected to begin by later this summer, and the projects are required to be complete by the end of 2026.
