HARRISBURG – The Christmas holiday crash and enforcement report has been compiled by the Pennsylvania State Police.

The number of crashes was significantly lower this year compared to 2022, but the number of DUI arrests and other citations was much higher this year.

Over the three-day period of December 23rd through the 25th, the State Police responded to 404 crashes, compared to 661 last year, with three fatalities and 70 people injured.

Troopers noted that while they responded to fewer crashes this Christmas weekend, they did issued more citations and made more drug and alcohol DUI arrests than last year. The report show that troopers made 198 DUI arrests, issued over 1,000 speeding citations, and nearly 3,000 other citations. Those numbers were up significantly from 116 DUI arrests, 451 speeding citations, and over 2,300 other citations last year.
