CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Salary Board rejected a proposal Tuesday that would have raised the salaries of the non-union management in the county’s Domestic Relations and Probation Departments.

A nine percent salary increase was recommended by both Clearfield County Judges, Frederic Ammerman and Paul Cherry. During a lengthy discussion, the judges contended that the county is fortunate to have well-versed, experienced employees, and that it’s time for them to receive significant increases in salary.

All three county commissioners voted against the proposal. They acknowledged that there is a salary problem in Clearfield County, but they are continuing to work on a solution which will not have the appearance of giving special treatment to specific individuals or groups of employees.

Commissioner Dave Glass confirmed that all salaried non-union employees will receive raises at the end the year, but the commissioners are still in the process of crunching numbers, and don’t know exactly what that looks like yet and how it will be paid for.
