Redbank Township, PA – More details are coming out about the fatal accident between a motorcycle and a car that happened last week in Clarion County.

State Police in Clarion say the crash happened just after 9 p.m. Friday on Route 28 at its intersection with Shannondale Road in Redbank Township.

A motorcycle, operated by 36-year-old Douglas Craig from New Bethlehem and with 34-year-old Sarah Stewart from Strattanville as a passenger, had stopped to make a lefthand turn onto Shannondale Road.

A witness told police that a Toyota Corolla, driven by 29-year-old Jhonatan Gonzalez de la Cruz from Providence, Rhode Island, was attempting to pass another vehicle on a solid double line. He ended up striking the motorcycle.

Craig and Stewart suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. They had not been wearing helmets.

Gonzalez de la Cruz was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian with serious injuries. He had not been wearing a seat belt.

Police say charges are pending against him in relation to that crash.
